Rogers and Brown Headquarters
A new office and headquarters for Rogers & Brown Freight
This new construction office building features a shipping container motif to pay homage to the tenant, Rogers & Brown Shipping Company. Bright, modern, open-concept interiors serve as a pleasant juxtaposition with the industrial concepts. To incorporate the shipping container motif, and provide some interest to the exterior, the main front and rear entrances were inset and clad or painted in warmer materials, the shipping container tower was designed to be a sculptural representation of stacked containers using layers of formwork, and the executive entrance was designed to simulate a shipping container open on the side with the concrete walls cast around it. Other elements such as the open ceiling, industrial style lighting in key rooms, and roll-up garage doors in the break room are intended to represent the modern and technological yet industrial company that Rogers and Brown is, and to be in sharp contrast to the early 90s corporate feeling that their previous offices in downtown Charleston had.
